Last week, we watched a movie named <MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING>. This a romantic movie. And the story is about a 30-year-old American-Greek girl(Toula) gets married with a American boy(Ian). She is not beautiful and she has nothing special. Her father never stops talking about Greek tradition. When she saw the man at the first sight, she fell in love with him. But his father said she was too old to get married. She didn't give up.And she tried her best to change herself. She weared beautiful clothes and made up carefully everyday. And she also learnd computer then she got a new job which needed her computer skills. One day, she received the great present that God gave her. Ian passed her office and noticed her. So they started their love journey. And at the end, they married with each other.
The things I want to talk about are cultrual background, one character(Toula's father) ,and the music.
First, the story is a very common story, but one thing makes it a little special. That is the different cultural background.Toula was born in a Greek family and she lived in the U.S. So if she wanted change, she should be more like American. And she made it. Ian treated both culture equally. And he was willing to learn differnt culture including language. As a result, both of them became half American and half Greek. They were same.
Second, let's talk about Toula's father. At first, he was a stubborn man. He said Toula was too old to get
married. When he saw Ian the first time, he was so angry. He wanted to protect his family and tradition. Acctually, what he did were all for his families. He always took a windex. That was his weapon to protect his families and medicine to cure everyone. When Toula's mother hurt herself, he took out his windex and sprayed. And as we can see when the whole families was preparing for Toula and Ian's wedding, Ian was burnt by hot foods, he took out his "medicine" immeatly and cured him. That means he regarded Ian as one of his families. At their wedding, he gave them a house as a gift. He realized his daughter's happyness was the most important thing but he didn't give up his family and tradition. So their house was next to his own house. The most spendid words that he said touched me so much was:" You are apples, and we are oranges, but at the end, we are fruits!"
By the way, I want to say someting about the music. When the movie started, the sound of guitar came up with pitter-patter, gently, slowly, and romantically.Just as the love between Toula and Ian, gentle, slow, and romantic.

Silent Hill
wikipedia |
Rose and her husband adopted their daughter called Sharon. They have lived a sweet life. But, Sharon always went on a walk during her sleeping and she always screamed "silent hill" during her sleepwalk. In order to heal Sharon's ill, Rose decided to drive Sharon to silent hill to find the key, even her husband prevented her. Whereas, they were pursued by a policewoman on the way to the silent hill. In the end, Rose broke the car to escape a little girl(the girl is the dark part of Alessa, Alessa is the central figure in the movie, in fact Sharon is the pure and beauty part of Alessa) on the street. Rose was hited by the steering wheel of the car and got coma. When Rose waked up, Sharon disappeared. So, Rose went on the road to find Sharon in the silent hill.....
I will give thumb up twice for this movie. In this movie, the most attractive thing for me is the plot. I have to say this movie's plot has a strong logic inside. You can see every frames were combined perfectly. The dark part of Alessa appeared in the movie from time to time to leave Rose trails to find the truth. Leave aside the plot, you can always heard Rose called her daughter "Sharon" in the movie because of "Sharon", lots of scenes happened around her. Whereas, they were not to lay on one thing to connect the whole story. The ash in the air, the air warning and the falling necklace on the floor were all the potential clues. I still remembered that when the air warning became to ring that indicated the dark was coming. The bloody wall will scare you and the diversity monsters will frustrate you and kill you . It just like a nightmare.
There is another interesting thing that the directer (Christophe Gans) leaved for us. At the end of the movie, we can see that Alessa revenged all the people who hurted her before. It seems that Rose and her daughter "Sharon" will go back to the real world to meet their husband and father. But, we can obviously find that the fog of the silent hill didn't disappear and Rose still can't see her husband even they were face to face. Is that means the story didn't finish? I saw a lot of people talked about this puzzle online. But, one thing have to be confirmed by the directer is that there will have a "silent hill II" to be promoted later.

"Once”
“If you want me, satisfy me.”
We may often see some guys singing with their guitars in subway stations or on the overpass. Perhaps the life pace in the modern city is too fast, for most of the time we just glance at them and then continue to move forward in a hurry even have no time to ponder what do the songs tell us.
Not as everybody imagined, the city to be here is not New York or Los Angeles but the capital of Ireland Dublin. The main charactor of this movie is a young man (Glen Hansard act the role ofing) who makes his own life by performing on the street. He is different. He never plays those thrilling pop songs to make the audience give alms but to extricate himself in his own music world. He is adhere to that hopeless life until he meets a flower girl (Marketa Irglova act the role) when the girl asks him to make sure whether or not he is sad to compose for his extra-girlfriend. It seems the girl brings the brightness to this poor guy’s world. After they talking with each other, the man knows that the girl is from Czech and only can get one hour per day to play the piano in a shop even though she loves classic music very much. They find each other amazing tacit understanding. And the discovery let them so excited that they soon form a band giving excellent performance to every one. As we can imagine, love has been in the budding before they can feel.
Music in this movie makes great contributions to bulid up my adoration for it. I am deeply impressed by a clip when the girl running on the street to buy batteties wearing pajamas and a CD machine, humming the rhythem she gets from the man with her lyrics "if you want me, satisfy me". The voice rippling with the breeze, bring me intoxicating sadness. They are not the prince and the princess and each has a trivial life. But what make them become companions followed by lovers is the love of the music.
I do hope everyone can hear this song “If You Want Me”. If you cannot get it, I can share it with you at any time in case you can’t get it.

“Contact”
“Because I can’t… I... had an experience. I can't prove it, I can't even explain it, but everything that I know as a human being, everything that I am…tells me that it was real. I was given something wonderful, something that changed me forever. A vision of the universe, that tells us undeniably, how tiny, and insignificant and how... rare, and precious we all are! A vision that tells us that we belong to something that is greater than ourselves, that we are *not*, that none of us are alone. ...I wish I could share that....I wish...that everyone, if even for one...moment...could feel that awe and humility and hope...that...... That continues to be my wish.”--- Eleanor Arroway
Hello everyone, welcome to my fantastic Science-Fiction film. Above all, I have to give my movie thumb up twice in advance.
Scientist Arroway has been interested in outer space since she was a young girl by the great impression and courage from her father. Her dream is to have contact with aliens and make people assured that there are real lives in other planets. By the pursuit of her own desire and belief, also the support from the minority of people, Arroway gets her first regular signal from radio. She is so delighted to research the data she got and eventually she figures out the data is a clip of Hitler’s address many years ago presently resend by the alien on Vega. At that very point, the American officials interferes this event for the security of all human beings on the earth and decides to focus on it. After the first bomb of “Atom Time Machine”, Arroway gets the most honorable opportunity representing the mankind to land on Vega. Beyond our imagination, during the 18 hours of her exploration, Arroway meets her father and the most unforgettable coast of Pensacola. After she back the earth, she gets no evidence but only 18 hours electric waves. Nobody believes her except her lover Joss.
Arroway is performed by Jodie Foster, a fairly renowned actress who has won “The Academy of The Best Actress” in Oscar for twice. In the movie she falls in love with a theologian named Joss (played by Matthew McConaughey). See, when scientist encounter theologian, when science meet theology, when fact run into spirit. An extraordinary love story is going to display for us.
Believe it or not, I entirely believe all the experience of Arroway is real. Knowing Pensacola and father have special significance for the heroine, the aliens on Vega create this kind of virtual environment to express their kindness and friendship to new visitors. The reason why she only can get 18 hours of electrostatic interference is because the aliens have downloaded her memory and make her has illusion according to her childhood (Actually it does not exist, it is just a kind of illusion and an alien’s mean of communication).

Tiny world has great wisdom. This movie showed us how frail we human beings can be when living in the universe. Only when we cherish and respect to our lives will they watch over us in return.

The Hangover
Have you ever imagined how your wedding would be like? You can have thousands of bundles of lilies, a special bank, wonderful food and drink for all your relatives and friends who bring their best wishes for you and your.....wait! Where is your Mr. Right?
This is a farce occurred in Las Vegas which is famous for miracles or actually, craziness. Three bestmen Phil, Stu and Alan together with the bride Doug celebrated his Bachelor's Day the last weekend before the wedding. They drove hours to this gambling city, making a deal to forget this night ever after but remember it deep in heart.
When the picture switched to the day after, everything was out of control. Doug was lost, leaving the three with a chaotic villa, a rooster a baby in the cabinet, and a tiger in the bathroom. So on the adventure of finding Doug within two days, they learned how to deal with their girlfriend or wife, found the baby his mom, seduced the tiger back to Mr. Tyson (yes he's real!), paied the money back to a Chinese guy and Stu even canceled the wedding with a stripper, but a nice hot stripper really. Finally after an unexpected series of episodes the wedding got its time to begin. These four guys though were still blanked about Las Vegas night, the pictures they took could be the forever memory sharing within them.
I really appreciate the unpredictable plot designing in this movie. We know the beginning and can get the end, but we never have the chance to guess the process. When trying to find something back in mind, we always try to remind to last time this thing catching our eyes. That's exactly how the film is going on. Though I totally dislike the identical way of description of the second episode, it's accknowledged that how to find a line within a mess is a skillful thing.
