A Human's Instinct for Survival in Space

Dr. Ryan Stone is a proficient medical engineer, and her partner Matt Kowalsky is veteran astronaut. They are fixing Hubble Space Telescope in the space that have no air and no gravity. However, suddenly, urgent communication comes from the earth. The communication is that waste satellite is destroyed, but the fragment of satellite is coming to them.  In doing so, the Hubble Space Telescope and mother ship are destroyed by the fragments. The way of surviving Dr. Ryan and Matt is to move to the Russia or China’s space station. How can they survive?

The movie, Gravity, is a Science Fiction genre movie.  This film has some special points. First, there are just only two actors who are Sandra Block and George Cloony. Commonly, in film, there are many actors and actresses. However, in this film, the two actor and actress act. Some people might think that this film must be boring because there are just only two people. Nevertheless, their acting is really excellent. Second, Computer Graphic is used to almost of film. The CG expressed space activity well. They did not go to the space for the movie making, but they used 12 wires and many lights for it. The consumed time for movie making is 5 years, and they saved actor salaries, but they spent $90 million for CG. Thus, audiences can enjoy realistic space in the film. Third, this filme has a great message. All life has an instinct to survive. Dr. Ryan stone is endangered to dead. She suffers lack of oxygen, loneliness, and fear. In the critical challenges, audiences can watch the complex human mind for survival. However, fiction is fiction. Some scenes are really unrealistic. For example, the scene is that fallowing space shuttle by personal propulsion system. Actually, this scene is impossible because the space shuttle move several hundred kilometer per hour. The personal propulsion system is too weak to fallow the space shuttle. Thus, audiences should understand which part is fiction or fact.

In my opinion, this film will be one of the best SF genre in the movie history because it has not only high quality of CG, but also dramatic story. See this movie. It takes you to the space!
