The Iron Lady
The Iron Lady is a 2011 British biographical
film based on the life of Margaret Thatcher. Margaret Thatcher is the
longest-serving Prime Minister of the 20th century and also the only female
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Phyllida Lloyd directed this film.
Filming began on 2010 and was finally released in later 2011. Meryl Streep
acted as Margaret Thatcher and Alexandra Roach as young Margaret.
In this film we see Thatcher’s struggle
with dementia and with the lack of power in the old age, while looking back on
the most important moments of her personal and professional life. What’s more,
she strongly misses husband, Denis Thatcher, whose death she is unable to fully
accept.
I love biographical film because it always
talks so many things about a famous person. I can easily learn something from
their experience. As for Thatcher, I learn persistence and determined mind. The
excellent acting of Meryl Streep and the wonderful making-up gain the high
points for this movie. And I think the iron lady may be the best description of Margaret Thatcher.
