Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron, 2002

Spirit not only shows American history, but it also focus on a horse's position on civilization and humans' development. By the time natural zone in which many animals lived in vast plain, humans appeared suddenly. The horse, which is named Spirit and rough mustang run into humans. he was captured to be domesticated by humans. Nevertheless, he faced and overcame an obstacle unflinchingly because he had family to meet again. He saw a indian boy who was in the same boat. They succeeded in escaping from Europeans by cooperating. Although Indians caught him again, they treated him differently and smoothly. Indians treated Spirit the way they wanted to be treat. However, Spirit alway wanted to go back. The boy who escaped from white decided to set Spirit free.
After Spirit was released, he realized that he had to block people who threaten his family. People from Europe kept on constructing railways and operating mines. He prevented them from doing those, but, tragically, thoes could not be prevented historically. In other words, this brave horse was in a nature's skin and the past, which mean unchangeable history people exploited naturej. This move tells about antagonism between the people and the nature.

The problem is understanding different culture because European and Spirit have lived differently. Spirit had depended on nature, while European had taken advantage of nature. The end of this movie showed that Spirit protected everything he loved such as bisons and his family. However, submitting to invasion was the static result. Nevertheless, this movie express well about American history. So, I would like to give 4.5 stars for this movie.
