This movie is about passion for writing and motivation. In this movie, the old writer, Monte Wildhorn moves to rural area which name is Belle Isle because he can not write novels anymore. He suffers from alcoholism so that he can not write good novels anymore. He always drinks alcohol beverages and grumbles about everything he experiences. However, meeting O'Neil's family changes his life gradually. O'Neil's family consists of four people. Three children and their mother. Children's parents divorced so that O'Neil's children only live with their mother. O'Neil's children always feel unhappy about the absence of their father, and Wildhorn also always feel sad about the absence of his spouse. But, meeting each other changes their feeling and situation. O'Neil's family recover their happiness again, and Wildhorn also can write his own novel again. This movie ends with happy-ending.
This movie is quite static and boring because it does not contain any serious conflict. But, supporting actors in this movie make the movie more funny. In this movie, a man who has some mental problems presents. His name in Carl. He always hops all day long without any reason. I think that it is quite funny and interesting although it is very silly things and doesn't contain any meaning. Wildhorn's dog is also very funny in this movie. It always stands next to Wildhorn and has a great concentration on baseball. (I don't know why.) It also gives a hint to an audience about Wildhorn's feeling or situation. I think that these characters could call comic relieves.
This movie contains warmhearted feeling, and its cast is very good because Morgan Freeman casts in this movie. However, the story of this movie is very boring and it hardly contains conflicts. Without conflicts, it is hard to concentrate on the movie. That's why I give 2 stars(★★☆☆☆) to this movie.
