Brave

The story of Brave happened in mysterious Albania in the Christian era of ten century. Merida, a beautiful and brave princess, the daughter of king called Fergus and the queen named Elinor, who was good at archery. She challenged the traditional and holy custom between three dukes in order to obtain the right of pursuing true love.

In that circumstance, Merida asked for witch’s help to get rid of the constraint of this terrible arranged marriage. Nevertheless, the witch made evil curse to her. Therefore, Merida tried her best to remove curse. Finally, she would create her own “brave legend”, understanding true meaning of love and brave heart in time-honored tales.           

Maybe you will say, Merida was enough independent and mature. However, I noticed that her way to solve family conflicts is changing her mother’s attitude via witch’s magic. That is to say, she was more likely to changer others rather than change herself. This logical thought is hard to be considered as brave. In fact, compared to Merida, I propose that her mother is braver than her. She not only dared to fight against with fearful bears, but also dared to change her thought at the end of the story.
