Enemy At The Gates(2001)

    Enemy at the Gates is a movie that is made by real story on the World War II. This movie show a history lesson, friend ship, and love story.

 

  The Battle for Stalingrad was one of the most important battles of World War II. This movie's main plot is battle between young Russian sniper, Vassili Zaitsev, and Maj. König who is German sniper. The movie begins with Vassili's youth. The shepherd's son, learned how to shoot by his grandfathert to protect horses by wolves' attack. Due to his outstanding shooting skill, he is drafted into the Soviet army. The battle of Stalingrad makes Hitler's continuing victories to lose.

 

 

  Unlike other war movies, this movie focus just two snipers the Russian draftee, Vassily, and his German opposite, Major Konig. Konig is a professional army sniper who educated snipers for the German army. Vassily has been raised by his grandfather.

 

  The movie opens with Vassily who are shooting a wolf in the frozen Russian countryside and then chaged to the scene that he was drafted and put on a troop train to Stalingrad. Once inside the demoralized city, Vassily successfully uses his shooting skills to good way. Danilov who is Russian solider quickly notices Vassily's potential as a sniper. Thus, he became no.1 sniper in Russia.

 

 

  At this movie, you could feel thrill between two snipers, especially brain battle, which is opposite to action fighting, concentration about enemies. Also, this movie effectively convey the harsh and brutal conditions that soliders undergone during war, so you may not forget this spectacular war films. I want to give 4.5 stars for this perfect movie.
