Blood Diamond(2006)

One day, when I was talking with my Korean friends, one of my friend asked me about African history. Especially, he asked the relation between America and Africa. I didn't know why they were in conflict so I researched about history. While searching the Internet, I found a movie about African history.

The movie 'Blood Diamond' is a part of adventure and thrill movie. The African country 'Sierra Leone' had a civil war and there are many victims. The reason why they had some civil wars 'diamond'. Because diamond creates enormous profit, not only native Africans but also other country people wanted to gain them.

The director Edward Zwick showed how lots of diamond are supplied. Also, westernized civilization showed material egoism. The government and rebel forces who possesed mine gained lots of money, but the citizens of Sierra Leone became death.



This movie was based on the fact about Civil War which conflicted between citizens and government in 1991. It is one of the most African tragic movies. First is 'Hotel Rwanda' , second is 'Constant Gardner' and last is 'Blood Diamond'. These movies showed African starvation, dispute, and many diseases scenes.

The shocking and unbelievable scene was genociding citizens because of possession of diamond. When I watched, I thought that this movie gave me some political and social messages. It was certain that it was showed vividly about Civil War. It must be stopped and they must understand each other. If you watch this movie, you may think seriously about war. I think it is good movie but, some love scene made the story awkwardly. So  I want to give this movie 3.5 stars out of 5 stars.
