A genre that we studied in class too was: science fiction. During this week we saw the movie "Star Wars". On this post, I would like to talk about another movie science fiction: "Super 8". I've wanted to talk about this movie because not is typical of science fiction. "Super 8" is a science fiction film written and directed by J. J. Abrams, produced by Steven Spielberg and Bryan Burk and starring, among others, Joel Courtney and Elle Fanning.
The film tells about Joe Lamb (Joel Courtney), a boy who lives in a village in Ohio. He has lost his mother in an accident and lives with her father, who is a policeman (Kyle Chandler). One summer, while rolling with friends a zombie movie on Super 8, see how a truck crashed into a freight train, causing derailment and a terrible accident. From that time strange and inexplicable things begin to happen in the village.
Super-8 is a movie format that uses 8 mm movie width. Born intended for the domestic market, but in the hands of fans and filmmakers modest reached a high level. The first movies of Steven Spielberg were recorded on Super-8. Therefore, most of the criticisms of this movie are positive and directed toward him. For example, Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times said the film is not just a nostalgia for a time, but also a way of making films.
This movie I liked a lot because, as I have written before, not the typical science fiction. It takes place in the space, set in a village. There is a lot of technology but in the film if used special effects. There are many people who have criticized the end of the film. I do not understand but I respect their opinions. For me it is an ending that fits the movie. It also includes small details that make it perfect.
