Another genre that we studied in class was: musical. During this week we saw the movie "West Side Story". On this occasion, I would like to talk about another movie musical that is one of my favorites: "Hairspray".
The film tells the story of Tracy Turnblad , a big girl but with an even bigger heart. She has only one passion: dancing. Her dream is to appear on " The Corny Collins Show" televised dance program in Baltimore. Tracy (played by Nikki Blonsky) seems perfect for the program , except for one problem is chubby . His figure has always section of fashion groups. Above his mother always remember, Edna (played by John Travolta). But this does not stop Tracy because she knows she was born to dance.
After wowing Corny Collins (played by James Marsden) with her performance in school, Tracy wins a spot on the show and became the most admired girl . This event is concerned the show's reigning princess, Amber Von Tussle (played by Brittany Snow) and her mother, Velma (Michelle Pfeiffer), who has WYZT television station. And Amber is not concerned just because Tracy could unseat him, but also because she can woo his love Link Larkin (played by Zac Efron). The program becomes personal to become a fight between the girls as to get the crown of " Miss Hairspray " .
At school, however, a short punishment opens Tracy 's eyes to an issue : racial inequality. She organized a march with Motormouth Maybelle (played by Queen Latifah) to fight for integration that ends with an arrest warrant. Tracy becomes a fugitive from justice and goes with her best friend Penny Pingleton (played by Amanda Bynes ) .
During the program, where decides who is the " Miss Hairspray ", it resolves all problems of movie.
I have to mention that this movie is from 2007 and is an adaptation of the movie "Hairspray" in 1988.
I have written before the actors playing the main characters. Most of them are very famous and have a long career in film, as John Travolta. After the end of this film, the director, writers and producers raised the possibility of "Hairspray 2". But not able to agree to all actors.
What I liked about this movie is that, even a children's film, talks about important issues such as racial discrimination. Another nice thing the movie that teaches us that we should not be ashamed of our appearance. No matter if you are ugly, tall, short, fat. If you propose something you can get them, as Tracy in the movie.
