The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas

<The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas>

The movie deals with the Nazi holocaust in the Second World War.

The little boy, Bruno, moved near concentration camp because of his father who is a German military officer. Exploring a forest to relieve himself from ennui, he found the concentration camp and met Shmuel who was confined in there.

And they became friends, putting wire entanglements between them. Shmuel was finding his father in there, so Bruno entered in the concentration camp to help him, wearing “the striped pajamas” which is a prison uniform. Bruno, who was considering the place as a farm, became aware of strangeness. But it’s too late. They were dragged to a shower stall where many people were gotten together. And finally, the place was put with toxic gas.

Because I’m not interested in history, I don’t know well about Nazis and massacre. But through this movie, I can see the phases of the times. In my opinion, this movie can make students, who are ignorant of the history, realize that how cruel the Nazis are. It is more sensational and easier than a book on history.

And this movie reminded me of sympathy. Bruno felt pity for Shmuel who lost his father. So he just wanted to help him without a hostile feeling about a Jew. The little boy didn’t have any enmity, only the uniform education made them harbor lots of hostility toward Jews like Bruno’s sister. The Nazis didn’t treat the Jews as people like themselves. They disregard and treat them cruelly. But in finally, the officer, who is Bruno’s father, was shocked from his son’s death. I suppose that he realized how he was cruel and felt sympathy to the other dead. Because this movie has an angle of child, the cruelty was embossed much seriously. Regardless of interest in history, this movie will make you be in deep thought. I want to give 5 of 5 stars.
